The 2012 National Postgraduate Entrance Examination (NPEE) was held in XJTU from Jan. 7 to 8, 2012. This year, the number of candidates registered for the exam for XJTU amounted to 11, 693 nationwide, hitting an all-time high. A total of 7,425 candidates registered at XJTU and among them, except the test-exempt candidates, about 6,500 took the exam at XJTU, more than that at any other test venue in Shaanxi Province. Meanwhile, 5,137 candidates entered for the exam from outside Xi’an, marking a substantial increase from last year’s number and except the test-exempt candidates, 4,471 of them sat the test outside Xi’an.
Postgraduate entrance exam involves many aspects and an error at any link may lead to serious consequences. So, to guarantee the examination be conducted properly, the departments concerned have made tremendous and meticulous joint efforts, including strengthening supervision of the entire exam and drawing up emergency plans.
As required by the Ministry of Education and the Provincial Admission Office, wide publicity was given about proper examination behavior and examination regulations before the exam; during the exam, various measures were taken to prevent cheating. The number of rule violations remained low and the exam was conducted in a positive atmosphere. All these have contributed to the fairness and equality of the exam.
During the exam, major university leaders inspected the exam venues, including President Zheng Nanning, Vice President Cheng Guangxu, Professor Chen Tianning, Executive Vice Dean of Graduate School, etc. The heads of the departments concerned and all the examination personnel kept to their post and performed their duties well.
Results of the exam are expected to come out in early March.
